Shout to the Lord on American Idol
April 15, 2008 ·
As some of you may already know, American Idol has a spin-off or sorts called “American Idol Gives Back.” It’s more of a charity fundraiser involving the “American Idol” show and contestants to bring awareness for a certain cause to the American public.
Recently though, on this year’s show, the contestants sang “Shout to the Lord” on live TV bringing the Christian bloggers and church-goers abuzz.
So there are two schools of thought here. It seems a lot of people can’t contain their excitement over the singing of a praise song on a show like American Idol. The American public in general would never have exposure to something like this outside of this show. On the other hand, there are others who are upset that a worship song was sung by those who didn’t sing it as worship.
If there’s anything to learn from this, it’s that you can’t please everyone. But what are your thoughts on this?

Aargh, I’m so mad that Michael Johns was voted off!!! I don’t have any reason to watch the show anymore!
New site looks really good! Not sure how I feel about the “Cherry Coke” scheme with the brown, but that’s just a color aesthetic. You’re going all out with the functionality! Do our students really deserve it…? (Just kidding.)
I think the 2nd school of thought is ridiculous. More worship of God, the better. Sides, who can judge their hearts?
This site is quite nice.
I love the site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what happened to love God love others?
To be honest Michael Johns was not that great. He needed to get out sooner or later
Wow, Danny, good eye. Because this design is still underdevelopment, there are still a couple things that still need to get done. The logo was one of those things. From a design standpoint, I didn’t know exactly where to put the tagline “love God, love others” on the page.
But after playing with a couple ideas, I think I finally got it.
