Prayer for Myanmar and China
May 13, 2008 ·
As you may have seen on the news recently, Asia has been hit by a couple catastrophic events recently. First, Myanmar (also known as Burma) was blown by a cyclone a couple weeks ago that left over a hundred thousand dead. And it’s still getting worse as aid isn’t getting to them fast enough. And just a couple days ago, China experienced a massive earthquake that may have left up to 50,000 people dead. These are serious events that we can’t ignore.
Please take the time to pray for these countries, for the survivors, and that aid will arrive quickly. Also, if you are interested in providing financial assistance, please talk to one of the ARK leaders.
David Crowder and the GMA
April 22, 2008 ·
David Crowder has got to be one of the more interesting people within this microcosm known as Christian Music. First of all, have you seen him?? His fro and beard definitely stands out in a crowd. And we all love his music, don’t we?
But what not a lot of people about Crowder is that he’s an excellent writer and avid blogger. I often enjoy reading his blog. It’s how I found out that he was coming out with his latest album “Remedy.” In fact, during the whole process, he was constantly updating about the progress. I felt like I had a part in creating the album, sort of…
Anyway, Crowder just wrote that he’s one of the guest bloggers for GMA (Gospel Music Association) Week. I’m not too sure what that is exactly, but it seems to be a convention of sorts featuring today’s biggest names in Christian music.
I just wanted to let everyone know about David Crowders’ writings. I enjoy his music, and would even venture to say that I like his writings even more.
Shout to the Lord on American Idol
April 15, 2008 ·
As some of you may already know, American Idol has a spin-off or sorts called “American Idol Gives Back.” It’s more of a charity fundraiser involving the “American Idol” show and contestants to bring awareness for a certain cause to the American public.
Recently though, on this year’s show, the contestants sang “Shout to the Lord” on live TV bringing the Christian bloggers and church-goers abuzz.
So there are two schools of thought here. It seems a lot of people can’t contain their excitement over the singing of a praise song on a show like American Idol. The American public in general would never have exposure to something like this outside of this show. On the other hand, there are others who are upset that a worship song was sung by those who didn’t sing it as worship.
If there’s anything to learn from this, it’s that you can’t please everyone. But what are your thoughts on this?
