Time to Build!
September 30, 2008 ·
We are (almost) in October and in full HarFest mode! That means we are going to embark on the construction of the best booths Chatsworth has ever seen…ever!!! But to assist with all this, we are going to need the help of every one of you. As most of you know, our mini-themes for this year’s HarFest are Post Office and Garage! We already have neato games planned out, we just need to build them!
So we are going to need supplies…lots and lots of supplies! Supplies!!!
Some of the things we need are:
- cardboard. lots of cardboard.
- brown paper (like paper bags and rolls of brown paper)
- cardboard
- lots of posterboard
- twine
- styrofoam
- cardboard
- 3 tricycles
- hot wheel cars
- cardboard
If you have any of these items lying around, please bring them to Ark over the next few weeks! Did I mention we need cardboard? Ask your parents! Ask your neighbors! Ask your teachers!
Church Work Day
September 22, 2008 ·
It’s time for a little Fall cleaning!
From 10am to 2pm this Saturday (9/27), we’ll meet up at church to help clean up our room (Multi-Purpose Room) and do some painting! Our room is in desperate need of some tidying up and we need your help! Not only are we clearing out some of some excess supplies, we’ll paint some neat “whiteboard” paint on the folding wall! Neato! This will help out our Middle School Bible Studies a lot!
Hope to see you there!
The Promise Church
September 21, 2008 ·
This past Sunday (9/21) was a special day. It was special for a couple reasons.
First, our dear brother Roy Shinn is now Pastor Roy Shinn. Remember him? He was our guest speaker from our Winter Retreat all the way back in 2004! After being a professional student for nearly 30 years of his young life, he is now a full-time servant of Jesus Christ! He was officially ordained by the Missionary denomination (we are a member of this denomination) and is now fully commissioned to do God’s work.
Second, this was also the Sunday where The Promise Church was officially commissioned. Led by the newly ordained Pastor Roy (and his wife Jill), a group of ten is boldly and faithfully heeding the call of God to plant a church in Riverside. We had a wonderful time of prayer and fellowship as we send these out proclaiming the Good News to Riverside County.
We at Ark Youth as well as the Garden are so encouraged and blessed by Pastor Roy and his team. Let’s be sure to keep our family in prayer.
Scavenger Hunt This Week!
September 17, 2008 ·
As we mentioned last week, we are heading out to the great CSUN campus for a scavenger hunt! We will start in one of the parking structures. And after breaking out into teams, each team will have 1.5 hours to run throughout the campus to search for clues and collect photos! So be sure to come out for this event and bring your friends!
We will all meet at church at 6pm as usual and will head out to CSUN together after our snack/meal time. For this event, every group will need one of the following (so if you have any of these items, be sure to bring them):
- A Bible (preferably NIV)
- Flashlight
- Digital camera with movie mode
- Hacky-sack
Hope to see you all there!
Drive-In Movie for High Schoolers
September 6, 2008 ·
ARK high schoolers got a special treat today as they embarked on a journey to downtown Los Angeles circa 1989 for a viewing of iconic ’80’s teen movie “Say Anything.” This venue features a nice “drive-in” atmosphere where viewers can camp out on the floor for this outdoor showing.
Thanks Joel for sending in the pic!
